Donghae has never really liked children, in this particular case babies. They made him nervous. Like “If I do something wrong their insane mother will come to kill me, and it’ll be slow and painful.” Also, they reminded him of aliens with their baldheads and ever growing big eyes. Donghae didn’t exactly hate them to say, but they weren’t particularly his first choice of company for the little free time that he got. Especially if that meant he wouldn’t get to spend more time with Eunhyuk.
Donghae guessed he was just too “generous” though to turn down Eeteuk’s offer to baby-sit - how Eeteuk actually knew any babies, better yet, how he knew any mothers willing to let him baby-sit their child, he would never know - plus, it was getting him 15000 won an hour.
So there he was, sitting, staring, at the little baby that lay contently in front of him sucking on its pacifier. Its eyes were big and glowing as it stared back at him, a stare that felt like that baby was looking into Donghae’s soul discovering the smallest, most complex parts of him. Donghae soon broke the gaze, as it was getting creepy.
He tried to, as slowly as possible, without making any sudden movements, stand up from the sitting position he was in. Apparently, it hadn’t been slow enough though because as soon as he was fully on his feet there was an unbearably loud screeching scream that came from the baby. (This was another reason he gets nervous around kids. He imagines they will “like spontaneously combust, or something.”)
Donghae Frantically began waving his hands in front of the babies face and blowing at it like a flame – god knows why -. He was obviously oblivious to the fact that his doings were getting nowhere though because about 3 minutes later when he finally stopped spazzing it wasn’t because he figured out that his actions weren’t helping, but because his arms had begun to hurt.
The dancer sighed and walked into the kitchen to think. He was getting thirsty so he decided to have some milk; he downed it and had a little milk mustache left above his lip. Suddenly the little light bulb went off in his head and Donghae put some of the milk in the microwave for the baby. When the milk finished he, again slowly, approached the baby and scooped it up, holding it away from his body with his head facing the other direction as if it were a soiled diaper. He put the bottle into the babies mouth, closed his eyes tightly, and was relieved to find the baby, in fact, did not blow up, but was sucking quietly on the bottle, watching the room around him. As both Donghae and the baby relaxed he slowly began to cradle her in his arms.
There was a moment of silence and Donghae observed the baby, he began to think that it was actually quite cute with its little tiny hands and feet.
The moment of peace didn’t last too long before an unexpected Eunhyuk burst into the room causing Donghae to almost drop the baby and in effect the baby to drop its bottle.
“Yo~ Donghae~!”
The baby began to cry, again.
“Nice weather! You are so gorgeous~!”
As much as Donghae was glad to see Eunhyuk he really wished he had chosen someone else to practice his English on at this particular moment.
“Yah! Could you pipe do-?” Donghae was NOT happy by now and Eunhyuk had stopped what he was doing before and just laughed at him, at least that’s what he guessed. And he was correct,
“-You have a milk mustache!” laughed Eunhyuk.
Donghae flushed. He had forgotten to wipe his mouth after drinking the milk. He suddenly remembered he was still holding the baby and carefully put it down resurrecting the fear of it combusting.
By this time Eunhyuk was rambling on and on about some cartoon he had seen earlier that morning with Eeteuk where this “super-awesomely amazing tennis player started hitting tennis balls that turned into asteroids and they killed dinosaurs.” He kept babbling as Donghae pushed him into the closest room, away from the baby. Then went back to the baby to make sure it had its milk and was nicely situated, again.
Donghae had a furious look in his eyes that made Eunhyuk settle down when he glared at him. He looked closer; Donghae had wiped off the milk from his lip.
“AWWWW. Donghae-ah you wiped the milk off!!” he whined, paused, then his eyes grew mischievous as he pushed his face close to Donghae’s so that their eyes were level and he could feel Donghae’s breathing on his own mouth, “I wanted to.”
The change in atmosphere startled Donghae. The thing that sent chills down his spine though was the feel of Eunhyuk’s mouth on his own. Donghae couldn’t help but give into the Passion of Eunhyuk’s kiss, especially when he felt Eunhyuk’s tongue graze lightly over his upper lip where the milk mustache had previously been.
One of Eunhyuk’s hands made their way down Donghae’s hips and into the back pockets of his amazingly baggy blue jeans and the other lightly drifted over the younger boy’s cheek.
The kiss proceeded, tender, yet passionate, - sometime during the kiss Donghae had been pushed so that he was pinned against the wall, and their legs had become tangled together - when Donghae realized the baby was still in the room next to them. Suddenly he felt very dirty. He lightly pushed Eunhyuk off of him and straightened himself up. Eunhyuk looked confused.
“What?” Questioned an irritated Eunhyuk
Donghae shrugged in response.
“Why’d you stop?”
“Eh, it just felt… weird. With a baby in the other room, ya know?”
“No. I don’t know.” Eunhyuk pouted and folded his arms.
“Oh come on, Hyukkie.” Donghae floated a hand onto Eunhyuk’s shoulder, which only made the other boy look away. Donghae sighed turning Eunhyuk’s head toward him to placed a quick one on his already wet, swollen lips. “I’m sorry, how about when the baby leaves we continue this?” Eunhyuk just kept pouting but Donghae smiled and strode past him because he knew Eunhyuk would be satisfied with that.
Donghae made a short sidetrack into the kitchen to get a glass of water. He decided to avoid milk as much as possible from now on.
When He made his way back into the living room he discovered there was no baby ‘crap’ he stopped thinking. He panicked and ran around the house frantically searching any place that was small enough to hold a baby. He searched left, right, up, down, but no baby. ‘Crap crap crap. Eeteuk is gonna kill me!’ His thoughts were interrupted by Eunhyuk “uhhh, Donghae I think-” “-Eunhyuk! I told you we could play later!” he snapped under the stress “but-” “NO! No, ‘buts’ just go back and wait for me!” he couldn’t even look at Eunhyuk, “alright, whatever then.” He walked back into the other room.
Donghae kept searching, checking everywhere, double-checking, triple checking. Still no baby. The only place he hadn’t checked was the room Eunhyuk was in but Eunhyuk would have told him… right? And besides, when would the baby have made its way to him?
He was about ready to give up. He tightly closed his eyes and rubbed his face and walked into the room that Eunhyuk was currently occupying.
“I am a horrible person!” he had his face still covered by his hands and his head tilted to the ceiling “I can’t believe I LOST THE BABY!” he suddenly whipped his head down and threw his hands to Eunhyuk “AHHHHHH!!!!” he yelled in frustration, he opened his eyes. “AH!” he yelled again except this time a little higher in pitch and he practically died at the sight in front of him. It was Eunhyuk. Sitting calmly on the floor. With the baby. WITH THE BABY! The Same baby that Donghae had been searching for, for the past 45 minutes!
“What the hell Eunhyuk!” he practically exploded “did you not see me searching for that- that- thing!” he stabbed his finger at the baby. Eunhyuk nodded. “Then why didn’t you tell me you had it?!”
“I did.” He stated matter-of-factly
“NO you didn’t!”
“Ok well, I didn’t. BUT! I tried to. You just wouldn’t listen.”
Donghae growled and lept onto Eunhyuk and began to wrestle him forgetting about the baby, until it began to cry, again. After the baby’s crying escaladed to an amazingly high pitch, Donghae stopped attacking Eunhyuk and sat with it in the corner giving it milk ignoring the older boy. After about 20 min Eunhyuk couldn’t handle it any longer.
“I’m sorry” he placed himself next to Donghae who turned away from him (they were very pouty today) “I’m sorry Donghae, I promise to try harder next time to get your attention if I have something your looking for.” Donghae finally looked at Eunhyuk and couldn’t resist the boy’s expression, which was the classic “puppy dog eyes” but Donghae was a sucker for the classics. Eunhyuk knew that. They both leaned in and kissed over the baby’s head. About a millisecond after their lips touched, Eeteuk walked in.
“AWWWW! KangIn get the camera!” he yelled. Before they could pull apart there was a blinding flash and Eeteuk squealing, “This’ll make the cutest holiday card!”
~That December~
Since the last time he babysat, Donghae got more used to children/babies. He insisted that Eunhyuk be there with him though when he had to deal with them.
So one cold day that Eeteuk needed someone to baby-sit, Donghae volunteered himself and Eunhyuk. There they were. Eunhyuk and Donghae babysitting that same baby from the month before.
When the mail came Donghae went outside to retrieve it. He soon came sprinting back inside with a letter in his hand. He showed it to Eunhyuk, they both gaped at it, vowing to kill Eeteuk someday. For it was the picture of Eunhyuk and Donghae kissing above the baby.
“It really was a nice picture, you have to admit. You look like one happy little family” They looked up to see Eeteuk standing in the doorway, both fuming. Oh he’s gonna get it. They lunged.
